Stress can be one of the most difficult issues in our life. It is all around us, it affects us all day long, every day. When stress is not properly managed, it can have very serious and negative physical and emotional consequences. Hypnosis can be a wonderful tool for us to use in managing stress, in not letting stress get to us in a way that affects our health.
Actually, we all need some stress in our life to get us up and going, to keep our bodies active, and to make our minds work. But if too many things are going on around us, affecting us, we may not be able to handle it all. That’s when overload begins, and our body and mind start to react badly. Stomach pains, headaches, feelings of hopelessness, inability to sleep, and many more negative reactions can occur.
The “flight-or-fight” reaction is a result of stress. Our adrenaline starts pumping, and our body is ready to take physical action. This was really necessary in primitive times, but usually in today’s world fighting or fleeing isn’t the appropriate solution. When we’re late for an important meeting and stuck in traffic there isn’t anything we can do to “fight” and “fleeing” is impossible. So there we sit, worrying about what will happen because we’ll be really late, and getting angry at other people, the traffic jam, and making ourselves physically and emotionally ill.
Or it may be that family life is the cause of our stress – money problems, arguments with the spouse, kids that behave badly, fights over TV time, and so on. The good news is that there are ways to deal with these problems, ways that are easy to learn and use when needed.
