Hypnosis is THE method for sports enhancement


No matter if it is bodybuilding, soccer, running, baseball, bowling, or even horseshoes or poker, hypnosis is a wonderful tool for improving sports performance. Hypnosis is a state of focused concentration - you quiet all the other thoughts and put all your mental abilities to bear on the activity. What are the things that get in the way of our maximum performance? Negative self talk. Distractions. Lack of confidence. Fear of failing. Intimidation by others. But none of these need to affect our performance!

Learn to get past the distractions

All of these are things involving our mind. We may have trained our body physically to do very well, but if our mind isn't clear and focused, the performance is going to suffer. We need to do mental training as well as the physical training. A very dramatic example of the effects of mental training combined with the physical training is demonstrated by those who participate in the Olympic sport called biathlon:

Ski really fast, suddenly become extremely still....

The biathlon is a wonderful example of the use of mind and body coordination. On skis, the athlete speeds to a target area where he then must unshoulder his rifle, fire at a tiny target, shoulder the rifle, then speed ski to the next target area. He is judged both on the speed through the course, and on the accuracy of his rifle shots. As you can imagine, the effort to ski super fast (this is the Olympics, after all) makes the muscles tense, the heart pump fast, calls for rapid breathing, and brings the athlete to a very high state of action. But then, at the target, he must become very focused on the target, slow the heart very quickly (the trigger is squeezed between heart beats) and slow the breath and relax the muscles in split seconds. How can this be done? By mental conditioning.

Mental Conditioning

As much or more training of the mind as the body has is required for sports excellence. The person competing in the biathlon has learned to be very aware of the body functions we normally take for granted - the heart rate, the muscle tension, the speed and rhythm of the breath. Shutting out all the external distractions, having a high level of confidence, learning to nearly instantly drop into a very deep, controlled relaxation of the body - these are skills that every participant in almost any sport can use.

Focus, Focus, Focus

Through the use of hypnosis, anyone who is involved in a sport activity can become as skilled as needed to excel. We teach self-confidence, removing those doubts about ability to perform. We teach concentration, and show how to ignore external distractions that can affect our focus on the shot, the swing, the pace, or the ball in play. We teach relaxation - how to clear the mind and activate only those muscles that are needed at any given moment. We teach visualization, a mental rehearsal technique used by all top athletes that develops the brain-to-body connection. These are all tools that you take with you, always available when you want or need them.
