WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

Experience freedom from those nagging issues once and for all...

Nearly everyone has had the experience of being so engrossed in a movie or in a book that they were hardly aware of the time, or even of other people around them. We all daydream. Have you ever driven someplace and realized you didn’t remember a thing about the trip?

Highly Focused

These are all signs of being in an altered state of consciousness – being so focused on one thing that everything else is pushed aside. That’s what hypnosis is. Being highly focused, being in what is called a trance.

Relaxed But More Alert

This trance is a state of heightened mental alertness and diminished physical movement. It is a state were we are more receptive to proper suggestion. The hypnotist is trained in helping us get into that focused state, usually through relaxation methods.

Issues Resolved

Hypnosis is very relaxing, a very pleasant experience that has many rewards in helping us overcome problems in our lives. Suggestions are given by the hypnotist while the client is in hypnosis - these suggestions are directly related to resolving the issues that the client has identified.

Common Questions about Hypnosis

Q. Is hypnosis approved by the medical community?

A. Yes, the AMA approved the use of hypnosis in 1958.

Q. Is a hypnotized person unconscious or asleep?

A. No, during hypnosis you hear everything that is said, and you remember much of what was said, but your subconscious remembers it all. If you fall asleep, you are out of hypnosis.

Q. Can a person get stuck in hypnosis?

A. No, you are always aware of what is going on, and you can terminate the hypnosis any time you want.

Q. Will a person under hypnosis do anything the hypnotist suggests?

A. No, you can always reject any suggestion. You will not do anything in hypnosis that you would not do normally. You will not violate any religious, ethical, or moral value.

Q. Is deep trance required for hypnosis to work?

A. No, light or medium trance is OK for most hypnosis work.

Q. How long does a session take?

A. A typical session is about 1 hour. If discussion takes longer, it is included in our session charge.
